Elizabeth M. Sheka
Liz Sheka is a native of Cedar Rapids and has lived in Iowa her entire life. She received her B.A. in English from the University of Northern Iowa, her teaching certification from Coe College, and is currently a candidate for her M.A. English (Teaching English in Secondary Schools specialty) from the University of Northern Iowa.
For the past fifteen years, she has taught English in parochial and public high schools, currently teaching at Linn-Mar High School. She has coached volleyball, track and girls basketball. She has been honored as a mentor teacher to outstanding student leaders by both the Greater Cedar Rapids Foundation and the Governor’s Scholar Recognition Program. At Linn-Mar she serves as the National Honor Society moderator, as a teacher mentor to at-risk students, and as a member of the Student Assistance Team. She also initiated and directs the Linn-Mar High School Writing Center.
