Jean K. Seeland


     Jean K. Seeland teaches first grade at Lou Henry Elementary School in Waterloo and has been on the board since 2001. Her degrees are a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and Mental Disabilities and Master of Arts in Education from the University of Northern Iowa. She has taught elementary school, including special needs and Title I, for 35 years in the Waterloo Community School District. She has been recognized with the Iowa State Education Association Charles F. Martin Award (1989) and as a McElroy Trust/KWWL-TV Gold Star Teacher (1992). She has regularly held leadership positions in the community; in the school building and district; and in the Waterloo Education Association, the Iowa State Education Association, and National Education Association. Jean is a lifelong resident of the state of Iowa. She attended Iowa public schools and is proud to teach in an Iowa public school.
