Thomas H. Paulsen
Thomas H. Paulsen, on the board since 2001, is a 9-12 Agricultural Education Instructor/FFA Advisor at the Carroll Community School District. In the field of Agricultural Education, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Northwest Missouri State University and a Master of Science degree from Iowa State University. He completed, in addition, an endorsement program in Work Experience Coordination through the University of Northern Iowa and completed the Educational Administration Certification Program at Iowa State University, where he is currently enrolled in the Ph.D. program in Agricultural Education. A native Iowan, he has been an Iowa teacher for 19 years. He has, as well, supervised student teachers, written journal articles, and given keynote addresses and other presentations. In recent years, his distinctions have included Iowa Voc Ag Teachers’ Association Outstanding Teacher (1998), National Association of Ag Educators Region III Outstanding Teacher (1998), Carroll Rotary Club Public School Teacher of the Year (1999), Iowa Teacher of the Year (2000), Ike Friedman Ak-Sar-Ben Teacher Leadership Award (2000), Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award (2001), and Carroll Masonic Teacher of the Year (2002). He has served as the Livestock Judging Superintendent of the Carroll County Fair since 1993 and as Assistant Commissioner, Carroll County Soil and Water Conservation District since 1999.
