Teaching with expired license

If you are teaching with an expired license, you will be assessed a late fee of $25 per month up to $150.  This includes teaching with an expired Initial, Standard, Master, Professional Service, Class A, Regional Exchange, Administrative, Statement of Professional Recognition, or Authorization.

If you are teaching the content included on an Administrative Decision license or Class B license and your  Initial, Standard, Master, Class A or Exchange license has expired, you will also be assessed a late fee of $25 per month up to $150.

Late fees will not be waived for the scenarios listed above.

 

Teaching without needed endorsement

If you are teaching in a content or specialization area not listed on your full license and have not applied for a Class B license or an Administrative Decision license, late fees will begin to be assessed on September 1, 2014.

All applications received after the September 1, 2014 due date, will be assessed late fees, unless district administration submits a letter stating the hire date to be later than the beginning of the school year. All application for Administrative Decisions and Class B licensure are required to be submitted within 10 working days from the date of hire. 

The assessed late fee is listed next to the dates when the application is received by the BOEE.

 

No Iowa License

If you are teaching, serving as an administrator or serving as a service provider in Iowa without the Iowa licensure or authorization, you will be assessed a $100 late fee per month up to $500 for any part of a month you are practicing without an Iowa license. Applicants begin to be assessed a late fee on September 1, 2014.

Any application for licensure received on or after September 1, 2014, from an individual employed since the beginning of the 2014-15 school year in a position at an Iowa School or AEA which requires a license will be required to pay the necessary late fees prior to the issuance of any license from the Board of Educational Examiners.
