The Iowa Youth Survey is a joint effort conducted by The Iowa Dept. of Public Health’s Division of Behavioral Health, Iowa Department of Education, Office of Drug Control Policy, Iowa Department of Human Rights, Criminal and Juvenile Justice Planning and Statistical Analysis Center, and Iowa Workforce Development.

In the fall of 1999, 2002, 2005, and 2008 students in the 6th, 8th, and 11th grades across the state of Iowa answered questions about their attitudes and experiences regarding substance abuse and violence, and their perceptions of their peer, family, school, and neighborhood/community environments.

Survey reports list responses to every question on the survey, providing total percentages and breakdowns by grade and gender. Youth development construct results are included in the 2005 reports.

Reports are available in the following categories: State of Iowa, Counties, Judicial Districts, DECAT Regions, Department of Human Services Regions, and the Department of Public Health's Substance Abuse Treatment and Substance Abuse Prevention Planning Regions.
