For students today, technology is part of nearly everything
they do. They talk with others around the world with just a few keystrokes.
Their version of a neighborhood isn’t just around their house –
it’s across the country, or spanning continents. Globalization and
technological advancements provide our students with a wide range of
opportunities, and challenges. It is our responsibility to make sure they
succeed in this environment by combining the academic foundations with experiential
learning they can relate to. Judy Jeffrey, the director of the Iowa Department
of Education, shares her perspective on education at a crossroads.
