Goals


A major goal of the Assessment Team is to make teacher education programs more effective through rigorous analysis of candidate and program performance data.

  • Develop a feedback system to collect data from first and second-year teachers.
  • Develop electronic data systems statewide for higher education institutions to collect       achievement data on individual teacher education students.

The TQE Assessment team recommends that grant award funding be maintained for the third year with a focus on sustainability. Specifically, we want to target grant awards in a way that assures that programs will be able to maintain and sustain the systems they are developing. As appropriate, we will work to provide grant expenditure deadlines that allow for a longer range of activities and outcomes within the grant period.

The Assessment Summit also intends to develop a spirit of collaboration and mutual support among our institutions through the sharing of assessment materials and models. For that reason we are requesting some modest funding to support the continuation of the materials and idea sharing.

We intend to link with other teams as appropriate. Specifically, we want to support cross-articulation efforts on assessment at both two-year and four-year institutions that have significant numbers of transfer students. We also want to work with the Dispositions Team to be sure that dispositions are integrated, as appropriate, into assessment system planning.
