Collaboration Plus Team Print E-mail

Purpose

Every teacher in Iowa will have the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to provide appropriate and meaningful learning experiences for every student in the classroom, including the ability to effectively collaborate with others in order to provide intentional attention to the specific needs of students with disabilities, gifted and talented students, English language learners, and students who are considered or have the potential for being at-risk.

Objective I:      Involve, plan, create.

Involve educators in Iowa from various groups such as higher education, local school districts, area education agencies, educational association and the Department of Education to help in defining the need, creating and planning for effective tasks and activities to accomplish the goal.

Objective II:     Build On-going Professional Development

Involve stakeholders in establishing learning communities and partnerships among Higher Education practitioners and local school administrators and teachers and Area Education Agency personnel through various fact-to-face retreats, workshops, demonstration sites, and utilization of technology (as related to Objective IV). Design processes that will encourage commitment, application and institutionalization of the concepts and practices.

Objective III:    Invite, Inform and Make Connections

Connect with other educational organizations to capitalize on opportunities for sharing information about upcoming events; to invite and involve wider participation in Collaborative Plus activities and support of Collaborative Plus goals.

Objective IV:    Provide Opportunities to Support Learning

Provide accessible, high quality technology as a tool for implementing ongoing learning communities and study groups among educators in Iowa for each student population, including collaboration with the work of Goal 2 by providing follow-up and support for the educators working on differentiation for ELL students.
