Iowa Department of Education

The Iowa Department of Education has been awarded a three-year U.S. Department of Education grant for $6.3 million dollars through the Teacher Quality Enhancement ( TQE ) Grant Program. The grant program, which began October 1, 2005, is a collaborative effort of the Iowa Department of Education, Iowa Board of Educational Examiners, all 15 of Iowa's Community Colleges, all Iowa private four-year institutions, Iowa Regent Universities, and many PK-12 school districts. The project provides for a more complete and seamless transition among all levels of higher education, and strengthens partner relationships as it relates to PK-12 teacher education and teacher preparation among the institutions.
