Pierre Beef Crumbles - UPDATE 2/21/08

The Hallmark/Westland beef recall has now been expanded by the Pierre Company to include the beef crumbles that Iowa gets through the commodity food distribution system and any other end products that our NOI schools may have received. The same directions you were given for the regular ground beef now apply to the beef crumbles and any other end products (NOI schools) you may have received and still have in your inventory. They need to be destroyed. You will claim your reimbursement to the state the same as you did for the ground beef.  Directions and the Destruction Verification and Reimbursement Form have been sent to schools. You may claim the full value of the beef crumbles which is $39.34 per case since this was a processed item that will not get replaced by Pierre. If you are a NOI school you would claim the amount you paid your distributor or Pierre for the particular end product that you may have ordered directly from Pierre. All beef crumble orders scheduled to be delivered for 8E (March) deliveries will be deleted. Beef crumbles will not be offered the rest of the year.
