Iowa Leadership AcademyThe Iowa Leadership Academy (ILA) supports two virtual leadership centers – Principal Center (launched in June 2007) and the Superintendent/Board Center (currently being developed). The Wallace Leadership Grant is providing resources for the development and implementation of the ILA. A number of collaborative partners are actively involved in the development and support of the ILA: the Department of Education (DE), School Administrators of Iowa (SAI), Iowa Association of School Boards (IASB), the Area Education Agencies (AEA), higher education, and local districts. Principals The Principals Center (PC) is developed “by principals, for principals. The vision of the PC is – Every student in every school in every district in Iowa will have quality leaders. The center’s mission is to create a community of where school leaders discover their skills, their wisdom and their passion for leading learning. Superintendents & School Boards The Superintendent-Board Center (SBC) was convened during the 2007-2008 school year with representatives from each collaborative partner. The SBC will use the continuous improvement model to provide common learning opportunities and support for the superintendent-board leadership team in their endeavor to lead systemic change for improved student learning.
