Policy Priorities

The State Board and Department of Education develop two sets of priorities to guide its work:

  • Policy and program priorities determined by members at their annual Board retreat in June. These are issues related to education excellence or student achievement the Board plans to research and discuss during the year.
  • Advocacy priorities that the Board plans to take to state legislators. These are the key issues that Board members believe need legislative active or funding.

In accordance with these priorities, the State Board and Department of Education have developed a set of Policy and Program Priorities.
