Nutrition programs awards and grants highlights available opportunities for individuals and districts to apply to showcase their quality food service programs. Make sure to check award and grant program details for appropriate deadlines. Summer Food Service Program Mini-grant Application and Team Nutrition Enrollment Form Team Nutrition is offering Summer Food Service Programs the opportunity to apply for a total of $1,500 in mini-grants. Sponsors with 5 or fewer sites can apply for $250 mini-grants and sponsors with more than 5 sites can apply for $500 mini-grants. The sponsor must be participating in the USDA Summer Food Service Program and be enrolled as a Team Nutrition school/program. The funds must be used for activities to promote healthy eating and physical activity. Please click on the following link to find directions, forms and applications: http://www.iowa.gov/educate/content/view/373/438/ Healthier US School Challenge http://www.fns.usda.gov/tn/HealthierUS/index.html The Healthier US School Challenge provides National level recognition from USDA for schools reaching the silver or gold level. The 2 year award recognizes efforts undertaken by schools to provide a healthier school nutrition environment. Applications must be submitted to the State Agency for review and then are forwarded on to USDA by the State.
