Iowa Department of Education

The Special Education Eligibility Standards document provides the accepted procedures by which Area Education Agencies (AEAs) in Iowa determine eligibility for special education.  Whereas the Administrative Rules of Special Education Eligibility Standards document provide guidelines that the AEAs have agreed to employ.  This document outlines the practice that AEAs will use to gather necessary information and to make appropriate decisions for children being considered for special education supports and services.
