Current Reality (Internal and external environmental scan) - Judy Jeffrey

· As background, homework reading related to demographics, generational characteristics, technology, workforce, business and economic issues, and safe and supportive families will be provided prior to the meeting.

· Information/Data about School Districts, Community Colleges (Analyze the current state of our schools including student opportunities.)

· Scanning the Political Environment - State and Federal (Provide a state legislative update outlining the work to be done in the coming year. Discuss changes at the federal level, both in funding and policy direction such as NCLB. Include information as available about the goals/direction being established by Governor Culver.) (Tab C)

· The Board will discuss public perception of the need for change in schools to better meet the challenges of the future
