The University of Northern Iowa (UNI) has a new EC Endorsement program being offered online and through the ICN. The Endorsement is #100 Prek-Grade 3, Unified, and consists of 15 credits. The first group of students started in May, 2008 and will finish in Summer of 2009. They plan to start a new group in May of 2009. For more information, contact Jill Uhlenberg at

. UNI is offering this as graduate level coursework. TEACH can still put these students on a Bachelor’s Scholarship, but can only pay the undergraduate tuition rate (currently $231 per credit hour). Students pay the difference in the rates.
Ashford University, in Clinton Iowa, has just heard from the Board of Educational Examiners that their PreKK Endorsement (#103) has been approved. They plan to begin offering courses in late September at the Ashford Preschool facility at night for undergraduate and graduate credit. They hope to develop online programs soon. . In the fall, TEACH would be able to sponsor Bachelor’s Scholarships for those working on the Endorsement and/or working on a degree in Elementary Education WITH the Endorsement. Since Ashford is a private university, TEACH would sponsor the scholarships at the undergraduate public tuition rate and students would pay the difference.
