Career Planning

Research has shown that career planning is a complex lifelong process. From being a kindergartener learning about the workplace from his/her parents; to the career management of economic changes in jobs or employment; to the later years of choosing a retirement career or interest, a person needs to think proactively about skills and knowledge needed to be economically viable and valuable. Planning thoughtfully with input from others who are aware of your assets and strengths, is the focus of career planning.

Entrepreneurship education is a vehicle for bringing academics together with career and technical education.

Math in CTE

The Department of Education plans to implement a model for integrating math into Iowa’s career and technical education (CTE) programs at the secondary and postsecondary levels.

Perkins Grant Programs & Data

Perkins funds are available for the purpose of assisting local educational agencies and community colleges in the development of academic and technical skills of secondary and postsecondary students who elect to enroll in career and technical education programs.

Project Lead the Way

Project Lead the Way has developed a four year sequence of courses which, when combined with college preparatory mathematics and science courses in high school, introduces students to the scope, rigor and discipline of engineering and engineering technology prior to entering college.
