JAMES A. ALBERT

Jim Albert, a Republican, was appointed May 1, 1997, to a six year term and was reappointed in 2003 and 2009. He serves as Chair of the Board. Mr. Albert is Professor of Administrative Law at Drake University Law School in Des Moines and is the 2000 Leland Stanford Forrest Outstanding Professor of Law. He has been published extensively in various national law journals on the subject of Administrative Law. A practicing trial lawyer, he has also argued cases before various courts and panels, including the Iowa Supreme Court and has been involved in several major trials during his career. He served on the Iowa Supreme Court's Sesquicentennial Commission. He is a published author of several books, the most recent of which is an analysis of the trial of evangelist Jim Bakker which was featured on the NBC Today television show. He resides in Urbandale, and is the father of twin sons.
