Engineer Applications

FE EXAM APPLICANTS

PLEASE READ VERY CAREFULLY. THE APPLICATION PROCESS HAS CHANGED.

All FE exam applicants apply directly to NCEES.

Upon passing the FE exam you may apply for an engineer intern certificate using the form available here.

 

PE EXAM APPLICANTS

ALL PE examination applications must be sent directly to the Board, and must be postmarked on or before January 15 for the April examinations and on or before July 15 for the October examinations. Additional examination information can be found elsewhere on this Website.

The following pages contain the instructions and forms necessary to apply for engineering examinations and licensure by comity.

PE Project Statement Form

Reference Form  MUST REMAIN IN SEALED, SIGNED ENVELOPES

  • Comity applicants submit at least 1 PE reference in accordance with 193C 4.2(1), who can verify 4 years of experience.
  • PE examination applicants submit at least 5 references form who can verify 4 years of supervised experience.  Three of whom are licensed professional engineers.
  • FE examination applicants with an experience requirement will need 1 copy of the reference form.

    THE IOWA BOARD

Verification of Record

Ethics Questionnaire You will need to review Iowa Administrative
    Rules Chapter 193C and Iowa Code 542B to complete the Ethics
    Questionnaire.

Tutelage by Unlicensed Supervisor Form  MUST REMAIN IN SEALED,
    SIGNED ENVELOPE(S)

 


Deadline dates refer to complete applications including references, transcripts, verifications, affidavits, ethics questionnaire and project statements, as applicable.

 


All candidates submitting applications to the Board
must wait for approval notification from the Board office
before scheduling to take the examination.

Approved candidates should receive an approval notice,
the registration form for scheduling and fee requirements
for that examination administration by
February 15th for spring candidates and by
August 15th for fall candidates.
