The amendments to Chapter 4 and Chapter
16 add new language to require that individuals complete the following
coursework prior to initial licensure: 12 hours of Developing
Professionalism and Ethical Practices, 12 hours of Buying Practices and
12 hours of Listing Practices. The current rules allow a newly licensed
salesperson to complete the courses by the end of the first renewal
term. This requirement will apply to individuals applying for a
salesperson license on and after January 1, 2009.
The amendment to subrule 16.5(3) reduces
the amount of time a licensee has to respond to a continuing education
audit request from 60 days to 30 days.

The proposed amendment to rule 2.1(543B) adds the definition of
“Electronic format” in alphabetical order, and the proposed amendments
to subrule 13.2(2) deletes language which is the same as that added to
rule 13.5(543B) for clarification and language is added to clarify
records can be retained as an electronic record. Proposed amendments to
rule 13.5(543B) clarifies records required to be maintained. New subrule
13.5(1) clarifies requirement that contracts and documents must be
legible. New subrule 13.5(2) clarifies that an unreadable copy is not
acceptable as a true copy of the original regardless of the medium. New
subrule 13.5(3) establishes the minimum requirements for electronic
storage of required records.
