January 24, 2001--MINUTES

Present: Evelyn Rank, Chair; Jim Hughes; Robert Miller; Terry Rogers

Others present: Roger Hansen, Executive Secretary; Pam Griebel, Assistant Attorney General; Susan Griffel, Education Director; and Tish Young, staff.

Rank called the meeting to order at 1:02 p.m. Hughes moved, seconded by Rogers to approve minutes of December 14th meeting. Motion carried with all voting aye.

The Commission considered a request from Greg A. Moyer, a broker from Illinois to determine, prior to application, his ability to obtain an Iowa license while his Illinois license is on probation. Miller moved, seconded by Rogers to respond that based upon the information available, he must wait until the probation period has expired in Illinois before requesting an Iowa license. Motion carried with all voting aye.

Griebel provided a brief update on her legislative committee involvement.

Hansen reported that online renewal had been a success and would continue to be available 12:00 p.m. CST January 30, 2001.

The Commission began reviewing rules in compliance with Executive Order #8. Tim Moline, Real Estate Education Instructor, and Paul McLaughlin, IAR, were invited to join the Commission at the table to participate. Hansen presented a draft that divided Chapters 1 and 2 into 11 new chapters. He will prepare new proposed Chapters 1-4 for review at the next meeting.

Griffel will assist in gathering comments and suggestions relating to the new proposed Chapters before the March meeting.

Miller moved, seconded by Rogers to adjourn. Motion carried unanimously.
