Workshops

If you are interested in having the ICRC conduct a workshop for your group on anti-discrimination law or on the value of diversity, please call Tom Good at 515-281-4505 or toll free at 1-800-457-4416, ext. 914505 or e-mail Tom at tom.good@iowa.gov .

Cost for these workshops is $150.00 for the first presentation.  All subsequent presentations on the same subject for the same organization within a 30-day period of time will be invoiced at $50/presentation for each additional presentation.  These costs are necessary to defray the agency's travel costs.

ICRC conducts more than 200 workshops per year for employers, employees, landlords, real estate agents, tenants, lending institutions, schools, students, and stores. Workshop subjects include:

  • Preventing sexual harassment and other kinds of harassment
  • Developing an effective anti-harassment policy
  • Successfully interviewing job applicants
  • Investigating a civil rights complaint
  • Understanding employment anti-discrimination law
  • Increasing cultural awareness in the workplace
  • Valuing diversity in the workplace
  • Understanding fair housing law
  • Understanding fair lending law
  • Fighting Discrimination (How the ICRC fights discrimination)
