November 30, 2007: CMS Issues Memorandums Dealing with Special Focus Facilities, Initial Survey for New Medicare Providers The federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently released two Survey & Certification memorandums dealing with Improvements to the National Special Focus Facility (SFF) Program for Nursing Facilities (S&C-08-02) and Initial Surveys for New Medicare Providers (S&C-08-03).
September 24, 2007: How to Improve the Lives of Depressed Older Adults (PDF file) The University of Iowa College of Nursing and the Iowa Geriatric Education Center is developing "Depression Training to Promote Nurses as Advocates for Older Adults." The training program will be released on a CD-ROM in the spring of 2008, and has the potential to immediately affect the care for, and quality of life of, older adults.
