Food Safety Inspection Programs in Iowa

Food safety inspections, as well as foodborne illness and complaint investigations are conducted by state employees working for the Food and Consumer Safety Bureau, as well as inspectors working for local health departments under contract to the Department of Inspections and Appeals.

If you have questions about food establishments, inspections, or licensing, please contact the regulatory authority responsible for administrating the food safety program in your area. You can locate the appropriate regulatory authority by clicking on the county (listed below) in which you will be operating your food establishment.  Several regulatory authorities have links to websites where you may download licensing materials, including applications.

A complete list of all food safety inspection programs in the State of Iowa also is available for download, as is a map of the various food safety inspection services in Iowa.
