Director

Gary Kendell, Director of ODCPGary W. Kendell is the Director of the Governor’s Office of Drug Control Policy. Prior to being named the Director of ODCP, Gary was the County Attorney in Warren County, Iowa for four years. Gary worked as an assistant county attorney from May of 1999 until January of 2003 in the Drug & Gang Unit of the Polk County Attorney’s Office and from November 1996 until May 1999 Gary worked as the drug prosecutor for the Warren and Marion County Drug Task Force. Gary graduated with his law degree in 1996 from Drake University Law School. In 1993, Gary graduated from Drake University with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in political science and economics and a minor in speech communications. Gary and his wife, Ann, have two children, a daughter and a son, and they live in Des Moines.
