    Awards in Iowa

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) is a nationwide effort to create jobs, jump start growth and transform our economy to compete in the 21st century. The federal economic recovery plan is expected to create or save 3.5 million jobs across the nation over the span of the legislation. Jobs created will be in a range of industries from clean energy to health care, with over a significant number being created in the private sector.

This page presents information on ARRA awards granted to the State of Iowa and those grants, contracts and loans made by state agencies and institutions to other sub-recipients and vendors, and ones those sub-recipients and vendors have made with the ARRA funding. The financial information presented in the award details is cumulative from the beginning of the grant, contract or loan period. The jobs reported is based on a calculation that divides the reported hours worked by the specific recipient by 520 hours (which is the typical hours worked within a quarter by a full-time employee). Job information is only provided for the last quarter reported.

Federal reporting allows corrections and amendments to be made until the next reporting cycle begins. The data shown here will be updated daily to reflect any necessary corrections made to our data.

If you are interested in finding out more information, you may use a keyword search or page through data to find the award you are interested in here: https://reporting.iowa.gov/default.aspx?cmd=Awards

    Other Map Icons

The rest of the map icons behave in a similar fashion except clicking on them will display a detailed view of the awards as well. Use your mouse to hover over and click on a few icons to familiarize yourself with the map's functionality.

The ARRA Award Details view appears under the map legend when you click on an award's map icon. This allows you to view detailed award information. You may click the expand icon (icon) to view more information.

    Detail View

When you click on an award, the map changes to show you the detailed view of the award location and it's place of performance locations. Places of performance are locations where an awards money are being used. An award may be used in multiple locations, an example of this would be a consturction project that occurs at two sites. Many of the performance locations are the same as the award location, so they are not displayed.

You may click the red close icon on the detail list, or click "Go back" towards the top right of the map to switch back to the full map view.

    Filtering The Data

You may filter the data by award agency, workgroup, county, or postal code. To enable a filter, click the "Filter Data" button on the top right side of the map.

    Keyboard Shortcuts

Pressing the escape key [Esc] on your keyboard will close most of the map's dialog boxes as well as this tutorial. Pressing escape [Esc] twice quickly will return the map to it's default view.
