Department Mission Statement

The Revenue Operations Division has three major sections:

• Collections
• Customer Accounts
• Document Processing

Collections Section

• Operates the department's Accounts Receivable system
• Contacts taxpayers who do not pay their account by the expiration of the appeal period
• Issues bills for the department
• Coordinates collection activities department-wide
• Offers collection services to other agencies of state government

Customer Accounts Section

• Maintains the registration system by registering businesses for sales, withholding and motor fuel licensing and permits and by updating individual customer name and address information
• Processes individual income tax returns for all tax years
• Manages distributions to local governments for several mandated reimbursement programs
• Distributes local option sales tax collections to cities, counties and school districts

Document Processing Section

• Processes almost 4 million documents each year.
• Receives and routes mail, validates tax payments and returns
• Enters tax information onto the computer system
• Processes payments
