Wayne was employed by the Department in October 1977. He began work as a Revenue Auditor I and was promoted in April 1979 to Revenue Auditor II. As a Revenue Auditor II, he was involved in more complex audits, working both within Iowa and traveling to other states as needed. When working with other auditors, Wayne assumed the responsibilities of lead auditor on many assignments. After several years auditing, he accepted a promotion to field taxpayer service specialist in October 1999.

The field taxpayer service specialist position is dedicated to providing education and assistance to the citizens and businesses of Iowa . As a taxpayer service specialist, Wayne assists various businesses on a one-on-one basis and speaks to various business and civic groups. He also works with community colleges through their continuing education programs presenting seminars, workshops and classes. Wayne is assigned to the Cedar Falls office and travels north central Iowa.
