Grants are available for counties through the state’s IOWAccess program to assist assessors to comply with GIS data requirements for the adjustment of noncropland for Agricultural Land under Iowa Code 701.71.3.
A pool of $313,200 is available for counties, distributed according to need. The funds will provide a partial reimbursement to a county for eligible expenses incurred to place GIS data on the county’s website, or a website of the county’s choosing.
Eligible expenses include software, contracted services and labor. The amount of the awards per county is yet to be determined.
Applications for participation in the grant program are due by August 31, 2014.
Timing for reimbursement
- Projects must be completed by January 1, 2017.
- Proof of completion is that the GIS data must be available on a public website of the county’s choosing, and must be searchable by the public at no charge.
