Subject: Equalization meeting
The Equalization Committee met yesterday, my meeting notes are attached along with the abnormal sales file with comments from our equalization staff concerning issues on some of the sale's conditions. We would like to review the abnormal sales conditions and implement any changes to the 2007 and 2008 sales. Since we have already processed some 2007 sales we need to act soon to minimize the time spent reviewing sales conditions that already have been set. Send your comments by June 15th to Karen Cooper, Director of Equalization, at email@example.com. She will compile the comments and share them with the committee in a timely fashion.
I have also asked the assessors on the committee to represent the views of the ISAA. The short time line precludes many meetings of groups of assessors but open communication is key. It is our goal to reduce the number of equalization orders issued in 2010 for the 2009 assessment. Many assessors have suggested we deliver appraisal results and sale's determinations sooner so they can do revaluation and not worry about the double whammy (orders in the fall). We intend to do both. If you have concerns about the equalization process this is the time to express your views. We will be listening!!!
