An Iowa recreational fishing or hunting license must be with you when you are fishing or hunting.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) offers an online mobile app to renew or replace a hunting or fishing license. You can also renew or replace your license in person at an authorized local vendor.

1

Renew a Hunting or Fishing License

You can renew your license online or in person.

Online: You can enroll in Auto Renewal when you buy your license through the Go Outdoors Iowa system. This feature renews your licenses or permits when they are about to expire. The app uses a stored payment method.

You will receive an email notifying you of your license renewal 10 days before it expires. You may adjust your stored payment any time before your license expires.

Eligibility for the auto-renew program varies by license type. Many hunting licenses with special rules or a season quota may not be eligible for auto-renew.

In Person: Visit an authorized local agent to have your credentials renewed in person. Find an agent here: Iowa DNR License - Locate Agent (gooutdoorsiowa.com)
