You may vote early in person at your County Auditor’s office before any election.
You must vote your absentee ballot in person at the auditor's office or at a satellite early voting station before election day. You cannot take the ballot home with you.
Vote at your designated polling place on Election Day. Polling places are open from 7 am to 8 pm for most elections. For elections that benefit districts or unincorporated areas of a county, polls may open at 12:00 noon.
Iowans have three options for casting their ballot.
Registered voters may request an absentee ballot from their county auditor and receive it by mail. You do not need a witness or notary. The county auditor must receive the request form no later than 5:00 p.m.
Creating or changing a law or policy requires following a certain process. An idea becomes law when ideas are presented to the legislature. The legislative process results in a bill being delivered to the Governor for approval.
The Iowa legislature is made up of the Iowa House of Representatives and the Iowa State Senate. Together, these elected officials hold the power in our state to create, change, or get rid of current laws. They make the decisions about how things are run in Iowa.
